Dr. Yuwei Wang received his Ph.D. in Engineering and is a recipient of the “100 Stars Program” of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He serves as Vice Chair and Associate Rapporteur of ITU-T SG21 Q5, Co-Lead of the Intelligent Computing Working Group under the Artificial Intelligence Sub-committee of the National Information Technology Standardization Committee of China, a committee member of the Multimedia, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence sub-committees of the same national committee, and Vice Chair of CCSA TC1 WG1. He has led and participated in more than 20 national and industry-sponsored projects, including National Key R&D Program projects, National Science and Technology Major Projects, and key projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
He has published more than 40 papers in leading journals and conferences, including IEEE TPDS, IEEE TMC, INFOCOM, AAAI, and ICDE, and has served as a reviewer for major journals and conferences such as IEEE TMC, IEEE TDSC, ECAI, and Computer Networks. He led the development of the first ITU international standard and the first key communication industry standard at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and has led or participated in the formulation of 40 ITU international standards, more than 10 national standards, and more than 20 communication industry standards. He has been granted more than 20 national invention patents and has registered 13 software copyrights. His honors include the Silver Prize in the 2020 ITU AI/ML in 5G Global Challenge, the First Prize of the 2024 CCF Science and Technology Award for Technological Progress, the First Prize of the 2025 CCSA Science and Technology Award, the 2025 E Fund FinTech Teaching Award of the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and two CAS awards for innovation standards and intellectual property achievements.
Students under his supervision have also received distinguished honors. Zhiyuan Wu won the 2025 President’s Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the 2023 Special Director’s Award of the Institute of Computing Technology, both as the only master’s student recipient in the respective year. He also received the National Scholarship for Graduate Students in both 2023 and 2024, and was selected for the 2025 Master’s Thesis Incentive Program of the Chinese Institute of Electronics. Quyang Pan won the Silver Medal in the ACM-ICPC Asia Regional Finals in 2022, Third Prize in the 2024 CCF Large Model Security Challenge, Third Place in Beijing in the 2024 National College Computer Systems Capability Competition and the 4th OceanBase Database Innovation Design Competition, and 4th Place in the Beijing-Tianjin-Northeast Regional Competition of the 2024 Huawei Software Elite Challenge.
