Biography

         Dr. Yuwei Wang is an associate professor at the Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICT/CAS). He is a member of the "100 Talents Program" at ICT/CAS. He serves as the vice-chair/vice rapporteur of the ITU-T SG16 Q5 working group, the deputy head of the CCSA TC1 WG1 Working Group of the China Communications Standards Association, and the first batch of committee members of the Smart Park Special Group under the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee’s Smart City Standard Working Group. He is also a review expert for national, industrial, and group standards evaluated by the National Information Technology Standardization Technical Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; a director and specially invited expert of the China Smart City Industry and Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance; a member of the Committee on Artificial Intelligence and Industrial Applications of the Chinese Association of Automation; and an expert in the Haidian District Expert Database of Beijing.

         Dr. Wang's research interests include federated learning, edge intelligence, and unmanned systems collaboration. He has been responsible for or participated in more than 20 national and enterprise cooperation projects, such as the National Key R&D Program, CNGI, the National Science and Technology Major Special Project, and the Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 20 technical papers, including several published on top-tier journals and conferences such as TPDS, TMC, INFOCOM, etc. He has been responsible for the formulation of more than 20 international standards of the ITU, more than 20 standards of the communication industry, and has been granted 24 national invention patents and 13 software copyright registrations.

         Dr. Wang was awarded the Silver Prize of the 2020 International Telecommunication Union AI/ML in 5G Global Technology Challenge (first finisher, tied for 3rd place with 911 teams from 62 countries worldwide), the Third Prize of the Science and Technology Award of the China Association for Standardization of Communications (CASC) for the year 2023 (first finisher), and was awarded by CAS for the Innovation Standard Intellectual Property Achievement for 2 times. Zhiyuan Wu, a student under his supervision, was awarded the President Special Prize (the highest award in ICT/CAS, only one master student in the whole Institute) in 2024, the National Scholarship (only one student in ICT/CAS, class of 2022) in 2023, and the Efunda Fintech Freshman Scholarship (only 1 in the Network Research Department, ICT/CAS). Quyang Pan, a student also under his supervision, was awarded the 2022 Silver Medal in the Asia Finals of the ACM-ICPC.
